Thought for Today for 7/28/2010

"Enjoying Time With My God"
Enjoying Time With My God
Bible Verse: I will rejoice and be glad in Thy loving kindness, Because Thou hast seen my affliction; Thou hast known the troubles of my soul, And Thou hast not given me over into the hand of the enemy; Thou hast set my feet in a large place. Ps 31:7-8
My thought for today is the perception that we have of who God really is has the potential to transform who we are into what we may become. If God is distant, unreachable or simply not interested in the uncomplicated things that frustrate our lives then we truly do not know God. If God is only a hope and a dream of fulfilled requests then we will never see Him for who He truly is.
God cares deeply about each one of us. He sent His Son to the cross to die for our sins as a sign of His unconditional love. He grieves when we grieve and is sorrowful when we despair. His loving kindness knows no limits.
David experienced the extremes of life. He was hunted as an outlaw and celebrated as a king. He witnessed the high-highs of life as well as the low-lows of life. David knew the blessings of the presence of God and experienced the separation that comes from the sin the separates us from His presence.
Throughout all His life David knew God in a close personal way. He knew through all of his trials and tribulations that he could trust God for the outcome. We see in today’s scripture that David rejoiced in the presence of God. David knew that God was always with Him in both victory and defeat. David never lost hope and faith in God.
We can have the same hope and faith that David enjoyed. We can rejoice in God, singing His praises in good times as well as not so good. We can know that God cares and that He is listening for the sound of our voices right now. He wants to hear what you have to say. Pour out your heart to Him. Allow Him to be your rock and your fortress. He will see you through the tough times as we learn to always and in every way, praise His Holy name.
Do you have a correct understanding of God? Is your relationship with God weak or strong? Are you standing on the promises of God and have established Jesus as Lord of your life? The choice is ours to make. We cannot overcome the obstacles of life alone. Life will overwhelm us if we will let it. Turn to the Lord God for strength and assurance. He will not disappoint you.
