Realizing Real Joy in the Love of God
Bible Verse: The LORD sat as King at the flood; yes, the LORD sits as King forever. The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace. Ps 29:10-11
My thought for today is the experience of God’s peace is incredible and undeniable because it often occurs during the most difficult of times when peace would not normally be present. We live in an instant world always on the move, seldom wanting to wait for anything. We have come to expect immediate satisfaction and gratification. This mind set has spilled over into our spiritual life.
We become anxious and unsettled when prayers are not answered immediately and in the manner of their request. We have often stop relying on God to be our source of strength and look for a do it yourself way of living. We have no inner peace because nothing in life seems to satisfy.
Perhaps we are looking in all of the wrong places. Maybe life is not about self-sustainment and having more and enjoying it now is not the sort of comfort that will ever last.
David, a man after God’s own heart had the right approach. He saw God as Lord and King and not man. He did not need to chase after the things of life for God was willing to blessing him. David did not need to go far for security, comfort and peace, he found it in the presence of God.
David though soon to be king did not have an easy life. His trials and tribulations were life altering as he was on the run from King Saul who wanted to kill him. He did not live in the lap of luxury, but rather in desert caves. He did not have instant success and not all of his prayers were answered in the way that they were presented.
David found contentment in the presence of God. He found an inner peace that we all long to have because his life was centered upon God and not the things of this earth. He had his priorities in order, God, man and then the rest of life.
Do you have your priorities in order? Is Jesus Lord of your life? Do you rely upon Him for your source of strength, comfort and inner peace? God wants us to be at peace in all circumstances and we can be when our heart and mind is turn toward Him. Take a moment and center yourself upon God. Call upon the name of Jesus and allow Him to strengthen you and give you peace.
