Walking By Faith

Bible Verse:
The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread? Ps 27:1

My thought for today is the crippling fears that often captivate our thoughts are a mirage in the presence of our Risen Savior. When we spend time with Christ in worship, prayer and praise focusing all of our attentions on Him the things of the world grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.

We do not need to be anxious or fearful about anything, because God is with us. Life may throw some wicked curves at us, googlies in cricket parlance that we can’t hand alone. The fact is as a child of God we are never alone. Life is unbearable without God.

As I contemplate this fact I am mindful of the ten spies that were sent from the wilderness into the Promised Land and eight return with fear in their heart, but Joshua and Caleb return convinced that thou their foes may be formidable with God all things are possible.

All ten men had witnessed the Egyptian encounter at the Red Sea. All ten men had been fed manna in the desert. All ten men did not go thirsty while in the wilderness where water was scarce. None of their fortunes was a result of man. They were totally dependent upon God. Yet only two saw the power of God at work and let go of their fears and trusted in the power of His majesty.

We are no different today. There are giants in our lives. We may have or be losing loved ones. We may be out of a job or fearing for the spiritual life of our children and grandchildren. Illnesses may be at the doorway knocking or in our living rooms taunting us. Nothing absolutely nothing is beyond the reach and power of God to give us the strength to endure.

We can and must learn to turn and trust in God as David did in today’s scripture. Life is always about choices. We need to learn to choose that in Christ all things are possible and there is nothing to fear.

Has the world crippled you? Do you trust God for life’s outcomes? We have power in faith that transcends all understanding. Let’s learn to use that faith and live by it and not live crippled by the challenges of life.
