Pride Is Not Virtue But A Curse
Bible verse: Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way he should choose. His soul will abide in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land. The secret of the LORD is for those who fear Him, and He will make them know His covenant. Ps 25:12-14
My thought for today is the awesome wonder of God is often lost on the proud and the arrogant who believe that He is not needed in their daily lives. Proud people think they know where they are going and when they get lost they get bad at others around them rather than placing blame on their own arrogance.
As a man I know because I have been lost many a time and thought I knew how to do something only to find out that I am not as smart as I thought I was. Arrogance with directions or instructions is may cause an inconvenience, but arrogance with God could result in eternal separation from God.
Pride was the first sin committed by man when they listen to the serpent rather than the Word of God. Adam and Eve desired to satisfy themselves rather than to satisfy God. Thousands of years later and with thousands of lessons around pride and humility written and read and we still have not learned lesson of obedient humility.
We stand at the crossroads of life once again. We may have made many, many pride filled decisions in the past, but this is in the past. Our future has not as yet been told and it is now that we will begin to shape it by the decisions that we make.
God’s word is clear that humility is a mindset that shapes behavior and maps out the decisions that leads to life eternal. We can make a difference in our world by setting the example for others to follow. Humble leadership makes known the commandments of God by the choices we make and the attitudes we have. When we hold God in awe when we choose to bow before Him in humble submission to His Word and accept His unmerited favor as our recompense.
How arrogant are you? Are you willing to humble yourself before a Holy God? Do you hold God in awe? The answers to these questions is reflected in the way in which you behave and the decisions in life that you make. Carefully assess your attitude and judgment and make the necessary corrective actions to humbly align yourself with a Holy God.
