A Teachable Moment

Bible Verse:
Make me know Thy ways, O LORD; teach me Thy paths. Lead me in Thy truth and teach me, for Thou art the God of my salvation. Ps 25:4-5

My thought for today is how well do we truly know the ways of God and are following them as a guideline for our lives. We are bombarded with many thoughts on a daily basis. The thinks we listen to have a fighting chance to get through and impact our lives. When we allow these things to be of this world we can easily be led astray. When we listen to the things of God we will find ourselves on the right path to joy peace and true happiness.

It can be hard at times to here God’s call amongst the noises of our lives. We need to be still and attentive if we have any hope of hearing and ultimately obeying. My morning time in God’s Word is the time I am most attentive to receive His teaching.

I know as I write He is guiding me, because left to my own devices the page would be blank. I struggle to write because I know that is not my strength and He knows that in my weakness I will listen.

I know I am in need of a Savior. I know that I can never deserve the grace and mercies of God because I continue to sin and fall short of His glory. For this reason I have a teachable spirit, one that is receptive to God’s call in my life. I truly want to be taught by the Master.

All of my attempts to follow the world’s patterns always end up in frustration. Only when I let go and embrace God do I find peace. I still have lots of struggles, fears and sorrows, but with Christ they do not overwhelm me. He has taught me how to be at peace when life is not going the way I had planned it.

I love it when I have an Ah Ha moment and truly see His grace and mercy working in my life. His instruction is what I seek because it is the only one that sets me free.

Who or what are you following? Do you take time to be still and know that God wants to teach you? Life goes by us fast. We at times may need to choose to slow it down and listen to God’s Spirit help but life into it’s proper perspective. Take a moment to call upon God. Open your heart and mind to a teachable moment. You will not be disappointed.
