Thought for Today for 6/2/2010

Given An Invitation
Bible Verse: Lift up your heads, O gates, and be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in! Ps 24:7
My thought for today is the knock of a Holy God who desires to enter into our lives if we would open the doorway to our heart and mind. God does not force us to love Him. He does not insist that we obey Him. In fact He has given us a tremendous gift the gift of free choice to look to satisfy self or surrender to honor His name.
When we take action and invite God into our lives it is not more of the same. He brightens even the darkest corner of our lives. Nothing overshadows God! We can find hope in helplessness, energy in weakness and joy in sorrow if we will spend time with Jesus.
Going through life on our own is impossible. The weight of life can easily crush us. Difficult times can easily overwhelm us and that is why Jesus sent His Holy Spirit to be our Comforter, our Provider. We need not struggle through life on our own. He is but a breath away.
David in today’s psalm knew of the power of the Most High. He had experienced loneliness in the desert. He had been under attack by both man and beast and yet he did not despair. He turned to His Rock and his Strength. We too have the same opportunity.
God stands at the doorway of our lives and knocks. You and I must choose whether or not we will answer the door and open it to allow Him in. He will not enter on His own because He wants you and I to choose to make Him a part of our lives.
Nothing is more powerful than the power of choice. I can choose to be sad or fine peace in Christ and experience the comfort of His love. I need not fear for Christ has gone before me to prepare a place for me and will come some day and take me home. For this reason I can endure the temporary to accept the permanent.
Have you called upon the name of Jesus? Do you trust in His promise? Are you walking alone or with God? Let’s not waste another moment. Life is too short to live it in fear frustration, anger or sorrow, especially when we do not have to because of the love that God has for us. Call upon His name you will not be disappointed.
