"Blessed"

Blessed

Bible Verse:
He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, and has not sworn deceitfully. He shall receive a blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Ps 24:4-5

My thought for today is the attributes of a man or woman who has established a right relationship with God. Today’s passage gives us a method for living in righteousness before God, and at the same time receiving a blessing from God.

As I read verse five today, I found myself wanting to go back to verse fours, a verse that I had used in my last message and wanting to understand what wanted of you and I as men and women of God.

We are made right with God for having clean hands and a pure heart. To be clean is more than an outward washing with soap and water, though that is important, God is looking for us to be honest before God and man.

We are called to life with a pure heart. No falsehood or deceit should be present in our lives. We are called to live a life set a part for God. How can this be possible when I keeping on doing the things I know I should not do and not doing the things that I know I should?

I am a sinner and in need of a Savior. My heart and hands are only made clean by the blood of the Lamb. It is through Christ’s death on the cross that I am made right with God. It is by faith that I am made right before God. It is by faith that I am blessed.

No one is without sin. We all have something that we are not proud of before a Holy God. No amount of good can purify our heart once it has been stain in deceit or falsehood, except through our surrender to Jesus Christ. It is through Christ alone that I may live in righteousness and receives the blessings of God.

Where are you today? Are you living in right relationship with God? Do you feel blessed to be alive and free to praise the name of Jesus? There may be much turmoil in life, but when we turn our attention to God this world goes strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace. Take a moment to surrender this day into His care. Prepare to receive His blessings of peace and comfort. Allow Christ to purify your heart by offering yourself to Him today.
