Do You Know the “Way”
Bible Verse: Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, and has not sworn deceitfully. Ps 24:3-4
My thought for today is the fact that today’s scripture shows that the thoughts and actions of a person who is bound for heaven should be different than those of the world in which we live. When I read today’s passage my heart melted for but a fleeting second because I know my thoughts and actions are not pure. I am a sinner saved by God’s grace through the shed blood of Jesus my Savior. Not a single action of thought that I have or will do can inch me any closer to the doors of heaven and into the presence of a Holy God.
Not one of us is without sin. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Without the knowledge of the promise of Jesus we could easily despair over this passage today, because God would have to ignore sin in order to find even one person worthy of entering into His presence.
A Holy God cannot ignore sin, and that is why He sent His Son to call all who would listen to come by faith and receive the forgiveness of God. Christ’s righteousness witness by His life, death and resurrection is a call to the world to taste and see the goodness of God.
We cannot work our way into heaven. We cannot surrender our body, mind and spirit in any way that could make us worthy to enter the presence of God. It is ONLY by faith that Jesus sent by God as a sin offering for our sin is the way truth and life to reconcile us with the Father.
We have been saved by grace, so that no one could boast of how they made themselves right with God. It is only through the acceptance of Jesus that God has opened the gates of heaven and has invited us in. It is by grace that we may posses a pure heart and clean hands to be worthy to ascend into heaven.
Do you know the Way? Have you surrendered to Christ and accepted His amazing grace? Are you confident in your eternal salvation? Jesus stands now at the doorway of your heart and knocks. Do not teary, open it and let Him in and show you the love that God willingly wants to pour out upon you.
