Living As a Child of God

Bible Verse:
The earth is the LORD’S, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it. Ps 24:1

My thought for today is the importance of knowing who owns what could and should impact our lives forever. We work so hard to acquire more and more stuff. We want bigger and bigger, more and more and are never quite satisfied no matter how much we have. The reason for this dilemma is the fact that our focus is on the wrong thing.

Life is not about ownership, but rather stewardship. God owns all that we see, all that exists. He has loaned it to us as caretakers of His kingdom here on earth. Some day we will all need to give an account of what we have done with the gifts that we have received.

Every person we meet is a child of our Creator. We need to be mindful of this fact and when we are our behavior toward others should change. God calls each one of us into fellowship, but not all respond. The response of man does not change who’s we are. It must change who we become for the love of God as we praise, honor and adore Jesus His Son is God’s seal in our lives. Others can and will see a difference if we truly remember that all are loved by God and must therefore be loved by us.

We need to stop focusing inward and begin to focus on God. This is not always an easy task, but it is a task that we must all strive to do. We can become wound by those who do not know God or have failed to put into practice His unconditional love, but this is still not a valid reason for any poor behavior on our part. We are called to worship our Maker, to bow down before our Lord and King.

When we fail to do so because we are so focused on ourselves we are not living up to the expectations of God. God is counting on us to make a difference in this world, to be good stewards of His love and this is what we must do with our lives.

Is your live focused on the right prize? Does what you say and do reflect who you are in Christ? Can others see if a difference in you, if not why not? Today begins the rest of our lives. We can change! Jesus is counting on us to make a difference for time and eternity, let’s not let Him down. Let His love shine thru.Bob
