Renewed, Relaxed and Filled with New Hope
Bible Verse: He makes me lie down in green pastures. Ps 23:2
My thought for today is that we have call from God to set aside time to rest, renew and reflect. Our time spend in rest is not a time waster but rather a life extender. When we slow down and concentrate fully on God amazing things happen. First our mind becomes much clearer, the things that were all so important no longer are critical to our being.
Second when God is brought in to focus we see just how much He means to us and how much we have lost by being too busy to find our strength and purpose in God. Finally, when we are at rest the tensions of the day that have us all tied up are relaxed and our weariness is replaced with refreshing thoughts of a Holy God who loves us unconditionally.
When I take time to lie down with God, time to chat and tell Him my hopes and my dreams He listens. There in the quietness of the moment He shares His desires for me, which may not be my desires at the time, but the more time we spend together the important His desires become to me.
It is good that God calls us to stop, to look up and all around and marvel at what He has done. It is good to be in green pastures that are soft and relaxing when the pace of the day is hard, dark and often lonely.
We have a choice to make once again. God’s greatest to mankind is also our most difficult gift the gift to choose what we will do with our lives. Today we have been called to stop and sit a while and enjoy time alone with our Creator. This will be time well spent, but things that we care about will not get done and that is OK.
Life is not about doing things, filling our days with activities. It is about bringing honor and glory to God. It is about drawing closer to the One who loves us unconditionally. Let’s respond to the call today and set aside a time in the midst of our busyness and enjoy the green pastures of our Holy God.
Do you need a time of refresh and renewal? Are you worn to the bone, weary over the activities of each day? Stop! Sit! Listen! God wants to lie down and enjoy His company for a while. Let’s not disappoint Him.
