Just A Thought

Bible Verse:
In Thee our fathers trusted; they trusted, and Thou didst deliver them. To Thee they cried out, and were delivered; In Thee they trusted, and were not disappointed. But I am a worm, and not a man, A reproach of men, and despised by the people. All who see me sneer at me; they separate with the lip, they wag the head, saying, “ Commit yourself to the LORD; let Him deliver him; Let Him rescue him, because He delights in him.” Yet Thou art He who didst bring me forth from the womb; Thou didst make me trust when upon my mother’s breasts. Upon Thee I was cast from birth; Thou hast been my God from my mother’s womb. Be not far from me, for trouble is near; For there is none to help. Many bulls have surrounded me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me. They open wide their mouth at me, as a ravening and a roaring lion. I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; It is melted within me. My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue cleaves to my jaws; And Thou did lay me in the dust of death. For dogs have surrounded me; a band of evildoers has encompassed me; they pierced my hands and my feet. I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me; they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. Ps 22:4-18

My thought for today is the awe of God’s Word that should grab our heart and mind to draw us closer to God, but because of self-centered reason it does not. I am blown away at the thought that this psalm was written by King David nearly a thousand years before the birth of Jesus Christ. We was yesterday in our study of scripture that Jesus quoted this psalm while hanging on the cross as a few of His last words.

Could this be a coincidence? I think not! God, since the fall of man in sin has had a plan to draw us back to Himself. David wrote about a man of sorrows, a man scorned and in agony. A man who was alone, abandoned by His disciples and hated by the religious leaders who ere called to serve Him and yet trusted Jesus placed His complete in the Father who gave Him strength.

God is but a whisper away for you and I. Like Christ we can be in agony, sorrow and with feelings of being alone, but God is with us and will provide us with peace as we turn our hearts to Him. The Bible is God’s story of reconciliation he is not done until all will set aside their lives and turn to Him.

Have you done this? Will you surrender to Jesus and accept His peace? The moment is now let’s ceasing the moment and call up God the One who can comfort us.
