"Surrendering Prayer"

Surrendering Prayer

Bible Verse:
May He grant you your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your counsel! We will sing for joy over your victory, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners. May the LORD fulfill all your petitions! Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven, with the saving strength of His right hand. Some boast in chariots, and some in horses; but we will boast in the name of the LORD, our God. Ps 20:4-7

My thought for today is the meditations of our heart are of critical importance to God, because He wants to bless us and give us what we request. Our challenge is that our heart’s desire should not be a self-centered request, but rather one that is focused upon God’s will for our lives.

Prayer is not necessarily about what I want but rather a means to prepare me to yield to the heart of God, so that I may readily accept His grace and His provisions for my life. All too often I have heard that if you have faith and pray without ceasing then God will give you the desires of your heart and the reason He does not answer is your faith is not strong enough. The concept of name it and claim gospel does not align with the whole of scripture.

It is absolutely true that God wants to give us the desires of our heart, but when our heart is focused on personal gain how is God honored and glorified in this request. God is well pleased when I with the right to ask for anything yield that right to request what His will be done in my life. This can be a challenge when His will has us endure ill-health, the lose of a loved one or not getting that promotion that we believe that we deserve. God truly knows what is best for us and when we can boast in Him that’s the blessing that David is speaking about in today’s lesson.

Boasting in what God has done, is doing and will do in and through us brings honor and glory to His name. We can show no greater faith than to humble ourselves before God and seek His will for our lives with all our mind, body and spirit.

What are the desires of your heart? Are these aligned with God or centered on you? Will you surrender your freedom to pray for personal prosperity in order to receive a more priceless gift the heart of God? He leaves this decision up to you and I, so let’s choose wisely and bring honor and glory to God.
