"Revering God Above Life Itself"

Revering God Above Life Itself

Bible Verse:
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them Thy servant is warned; In keeping them there is great reward. Ps 19:9-11

My thought for today is all too often I am afraid that we do not hold God in the highest estate trembling below His Holiness. We fail to revere God and as a result we fail to love honor and obey His Word.

I am convinced if we were to tremble before a holy God we would not make some of the decisions that lead us astray. Our anger would melt away in the same manner that our sins are forgiven and we would remember the offense no more. Our self-centeredness with be transformed to selflessness by the love God showers upon us.

When we seek after the things of God, realizing how wonderful are the things that He cares about then care of this life will be put into their proper perspective. Getting ahead can be but above drawing closer to God. The love of money, power and prestige is but a chasing after the wind as time is spent in the presence of our God.

Once we truly taste and experience the love of God we sing praises Like David did in today’s scripture passage. We will not fear God as one being punished, but rather hold in awe as One in whom we surrender our lives to serve.

The scripture is replete with calls to draw closer to God, to put Him about the things of life. When will our eyes be opened, our ears pricked and our hearts soften to respond, “I am yours and not my own.” Life is about choices. Today begins a new chapter in the story of God in our lives. What will be written is up to you and I. We can either love, honor and obey Him or choose to turn our back on Him to satisfy ourselves so let’s choose wisely and revere God with all of our being.

Is God honored by what you say and do? Does God receive the glory He deserves through the way in which you live? Have you held God in highest regard? Don’t worry about the past for it has passed. Let’s consider the now and our future and rededicate ourselves to love God with body, mind and spirit.
