Walking By the Light of Christ
Bible Verse: For God alone lights my lamp; The LORD my God illumines my darkness. For by Thee I can run upon a troop; and by my God I can leap over a wall. As for God, His way is blameless; the word of the LORD is tried; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. Ps 18:28-30
My thought for today is the source of our guiding light will establish the path that we will follow. If we are not daily fed daily on the Word of God He will not become our guiding light and without Him as the One lighting our way we are more often than not headed for trouble. Without the Word of God feeding our soles we will never be able to endure the trials and tribulations of life.
David reminds us in today’s passage that spending time daily with God is good for our well-being. With God, we can do anything, endure all things, find hope in the midst of the darkest of times, learn to be strong when we are physically weak. God enables us to leap over the things that could have caused us to stumble had we not had His light to show us the way.
We can easily be side tracked. There are many self-help experts in this world. Many believe that they can show us the way to peace and joy when they themselves have no clue in how to get there themselves. The world cries out if you only had more money, power, prestige then you would find happiness and all of this is not true. Our peace comes from God. We find hope in hopelessness, comfort in turmoil, rest in weariness when we place our trust in God.
David found that God was his strength and his refuge. David saw that the Word of God was blameless, something that he had complete trust in. we have to decide for ourselves whether or not that we can trust in God’s word as David had thousands of years ago. We are a needy people in desperate need of a Savior and the good news is that He stands at the doorway of our heart and knocks, waiting for us to invite Him in to be our life sustaining hope. Let’s not leave Him waiting at the door. Take a moment and invite Him in you will not be disappointed.
Where do you go for light in a world steeped in darkness? Are you a daily student of god’s Word? Id God’s Word a light unto your feet, illumining the darkness to help you from stumbling? Jesus can show us the way if we will let Him. Make it a point to invite Him along for the day. Talk to Him often. Allow Him to be a part of every decision you make. With Him you will always make good choices.
