"Finding Contentment in the Presence of God"
Finding Contentment in the Presence of God
Bible Verse: Thou will make known to me the path of life; In Thy presence is fullness of joy; In Thy right hand there are pleasures forever. Ps 17:11
My thought for today is just how incomplete we truly are without the presence of God and His love in our lives. Men have accumulated the treasures of the world and yet have not been satisfied. Solomon the smartest man in the world was not satisfied knowing all things. Recognition of humankind would not be enough to satisfy the need in our lives for completeness.
Our Creator created a God’s sized whole that only He can fill. I have served on many different mission trips around the United States and find that peace and contentment is not in have things but rather in a relationship with the King of kings and Lord of lords. People devastated by hurricanes, living in squalor that know Jesus, have a peace that surpass all understanding.
David, the venerated King of Israel knew that life’s purpose was not found in self satisfaction, but rather in surrender to God. David placed his trust solely in God. He sought God’s guidance and direction for His life. He found joy in the midst of turmoil in the presence of God. He experience truly pleasure in knowing, praying and worshiping God.
We have the same choices that all of the characters written about in the Bible had. They had to choose to fill the God sized whole with God or something else. They chose God and endured life and its challenges while being upheld and guided by a Holy God.
As each of prepares for the start of a new day we need to be purposeful in how we find peace and joy in life. The things of this world are fading fancies while time with God yields eternal peace.
Time in prayer, singing of praise, worship filled living and God’s centered study are the diet of activities for men and women who want joy in their lives. We need to walk by faith and not by sight, trusting each step to the One who guides us. Then and only then will life be complete and God’s peace enjoyed.
Given today’s message, how will you change your approach to life? Are you willing to seek God above all else? Do you want to find peace in the midst of the turmoil of life? God is the answer so call upon His name and be satisified.
