Knelling Waist Deep in Mud in Prayer

Bible Verse:
How long, O LORD? Wilt Thou forget me forever? How long wilt Thou hide Thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart all the day? How long will my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and answer me, O LORD, my God; Enlighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, Lest my enemy say, “I have overcome him,” Lest my adversaries rejoice when I am shaken. But I have trusted in Thy loving kindness; My heart shall rejoice in Thy salvation. I will sing to the LORD, Because He has dealt bountifully with me. Ps 13

My thought for today is the fact that life will have trials and tribulations, but that is still not excuse for us not sing praises to God. In today’s scripture passage we see David torn between his circumstances and his desire to worship God. He prays for personal relief from life challenges that assault his well-being, but filled with grace humbles himself before a Holy and Just Heavenly Father.

We as children of God like David will have struggles in life. Our world at times will not go the way we have planned it. Storms will form and the rain and wind will come beating us down. What we do in these times is our witness to God. The choice is easy. We can say woe is me or shout with the confidence of angels Holy is He who gives us life and breath.

We can choose to ignore life’s pain and the emotion of the moment and turn our full and undivided attention to God. We can rejoice in Jesus our living water, the source of our salvation. We can thank God for His grace even though the world in which we live is draped across our shoulders.

God is worthy of our praise. No matter what life throws at us, God still remains in charge and worthy of our worship. David, who was being hunter by Saul as an animal, lived in a cave on the run wondered as you and I might where is God in all of the tragedy in hi life and yet David’s faith was unwavering. He knelt with calm assurance that though he struggled God was GOOD. He humbled himself before God giving Him the glory and honor He deserves.

Where are you in your worship of God? Have you let life get the best of you? Are you willing like David to set aside your wants and desires to worship the One who has gone to the cross to free you of your sins? It is never too late to come before God with a contrite heart and worship Him. He is waiting for our response. Let’s not disappoint Him!
