"Purer Than Fine Silver"
Purer Than Fine Silver
Bible Verse: The words of the LORD are pure words; as silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times. Thou, O LORD, wilt keep them; Thou wilt preserve him from this generation forever. Ps 12:6-7
My thought for today is our view of what the Word of God and what it means to you and I as we live out our daily lives. Often times I am afraid we read the word of God as we would a novel reading words but not applying its prescription for making changes in our lives.
We fail at times to view the Word of God is a light until our feet that helps us walk in the way that pleases God. Every word in the Bible is important. Paul said it best in his final letter to Timothy when he wrote, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.”
God has a promise to watch over those who read and heed the Word of God. He preserves those who desire to draw closer to Him by getting to know Him through prayer and the study of His Word.
Trials and tribulation will continue, but our ability to cope with life is strengthen as we allow the pure words of God to wash over us. I am blessed each and every day I sit and meditate on the Word of God.
My days are busy, filled with activities that need to be done, but the best part of my day is reading the Word of God. Though I find it difficult to write and I struggle with it mightily I know that is what God’s Spirit would have me do as I share the thoughts that He places upon my heart.
God’s Word is sweeter than any honey. It is more precious than any gold and more purer than the finest silver. Nothing can compare with God’s Book and yet we so seldom read and apply what we have learned.
Today we are called to a new beginning. We have an opportunity to pick up this Book and draw closer to God. Let’s not disappoint the author by ignoring His call. We several times today’s scripture. Let it permeate your being as the Word of God comes alive in our lives.
Are we serious about wanting to draw closer to God? Do we want to know God more completely? If this is so, let’s choose to spend more time in His Word and allow it to transform our lives. His word is precious, something that we can learn to love as we turn our hearts over to Him.
