Speaking A Message of Love
Bible Verse: Help, LORD, for the godly man ceases to be, for the faithful disappear from among the sons of men. They speak falsehood to one another; with flattering lips and with a double heart they speak. Ps 12:1-2
My thought for today is the power and devastation that is left behind when one of the smallest muscles in all of the human body is exercised. In James’s letter to the early church he had a lot to say about potential the damage that can be inflicted by the human tongue. He was very specific that we needed to guard what we say and more importantly guar what we think for words are in our mind and mind before they are on our tongue and out of our mouths.
Today’s scripture passage reminds us that even the faithful need to be on guard. Our tongues can be used to either glorify God or flatter ourselves. We can either speak the truth in love our deceive ourselves that the truth does not need to be proclaimed.
It does not take much to slip up and blurt out words that injury others more deeply than any bodily accident. Our mind will forget the bodily injuries but for some reason the words that have injured us linger around for a lot longer.
We need to be using this critical muscle that God has given us to His glory and not for our own satisfaction. We need to be honoring God and not faltering ourselves.
I was deeply moved by the last few words of today’s Bible passage. If we are not careful we will find ourselves with a double heart. We will say that we love God but some words that we choose to use as we speak to others do not reflect the love that God has placed within us.
We need to be more thoughtful of the words we use. Words have impact and we want the impact to be used for God’s glory and not for destruction. The choices is ours to make and if we have nothing good to say it is best that we say nothing at all.
Do you have control over your tongue? Are you honor God or satisfy yourself by what you have said? What is past cannot be undone, but what is to come can have a new beginning. The next word that you speak can glorify God so make it count as a love offering to God and not as a sign of a denial of His grace and forgiveness. He speaks highly of you so let’s speak highly of each other.
