Life Is a Zero Sum Game
Bible Verse: For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire, and the greedy man curses and spurns the LORD. The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him. All his thoughts are, “ There is no God.” Ps 10:4-5
My thought for today is the fact that God sees all and though He might not respond to the moment all will be reconciled in His time. People do not get away with murder! God sees and though it looks like there are no penalties for sinful behavior today all will one day stand before the King of kings and Lord of lords in judgment.
Thanks be to God we have a choice to accept Christ’s gift of grace. Thanks be to God that we can choose to turn from the evil we once fed, the sin that captivated our lives and walk in Christ’s light. If we have surrendered our lives into Christ’s care we need not stress over the sin that has been, is currently or will be in our lives.
God calls us all to humble ourselves before Him. Those who choose to surrender in this life will not be eternally separated from God in the life to come.
We can look all around us and see evil prosper. Thieves and liars prospering and yet in service and honesty we struggle. Life is not about advancing at any price. Life is not about he who has the most toys wins. Life is not about building oneself up at the expense of tearing others down.
All who place their trust in Jesus know that life has a higher purpose one that focuses on God and not upon self. We need to pray for those around us who are unwilling to receive the message of God’s love and His judgment. Fear is not the stick that we need to wheel, but rather we need to demonstrate the love of God whereby others want the peace and joy we have not the things of this world that if we are not careful can lead us to destruction.
Where is your focus? Do you spend more time in nurturing your relationship with god than you do advancing your worldly scorecard? Is god praised or mocked by the way in which you live? The choices are still ours to make. We can surrender all and choose to serve the King. We can confess and repent rather than seeking the things of life that satisfy our hearts desire. God knows all our deepest darkest secrets and yet loves us unconditionally. This is worth celebrating and worth living for. To God be the glory forever and ever, Amen.
