On Bended Knees Before God
Bible Verse: Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth. Worship the LORD with reverence, and rejoice with trembling. Do homage to the Son, lest He become angry, and you perish in the way, for His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him! Ps 2:10-12
My thought for today is how long do we think that we can grieve God with our arrogance and selfishness. God has put up with the pride of man since the foundation of the world. He gave us freedom to choose and we chose self over surrender to His will. Will we ever wake up and see what He is calling us to become?
The world would be a much different world if we did not focus on our own needs, but rather on a desire to bring honor and glory to God by loving our neighbor as ourselves. We need to stop and consider our thoughts, words and actions and determine if they are moving us in the right direction, closer to God or further away.
Anger, self-centered desires or complacency are actions that do not show our discernment of who god really is and that we love His Son Jesus Christ who died to set us free. Our attitude toward accepting mediocrity in our worship of god, going through the motions rather than grabbing the moment and experiencing His power, majesty and love.
He has blessings waiting for all who call upon His name. Life’s challenges will not go away, but rather we will be given the will to cope with these challenges because He will share these burdens with Him. Alone we are crushed. With God we can endure all things.
My heart goes out to the people of Haiti. When your world truly comes down around you hope in the world is dashed. When loved ones and property are lost and there is no one to lean on we still have Jesus. Our prayers call us and other Christians into action, praying, giving perhaps even serving in recovery of a people devastated. God calls us to worship in serving our neighbor. If you call upon His name He will remind you how you can help. It’s all about God, because God plus you is all that is needed.
Are you surrendered to God? Have you asked Him how you can bring Him glory in a world of hurt? When we turn our heart toward Him, surrender to Him and seek His guidance and direction you will know what He wants from you. So, pray without ceasing and surrender without reward and God will fill you abundantly.
