Excited About Praising God
Bible Verse: “My people, what have I done to you, and how have I wearied you? Answer Me. “Indeed, I brought you up from the land of Egypt And ransomed you from the house of slavery, And I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. “My people, remember now What Balak king of Moab counseled And what Balaam son of Beor answered him, And from Shittim to Gilgal, In order that you might know the righteous acts of the LORD.” Mic 6:3-5
My thought for today is what has God done that we, His creation, would reject or worse from time to time ignore Him. The people of God ought to know better, but we don’t. Often within our self-centered focus we choose to satisfy ourselves rather than allowing ourselves to be humbled before our Creator.
I was struck between the eyes this morning, but today’s scripture. I have read Micah a number of times but never even stopped to dwell on the fact that we may become complacent and act as if we are tired serving God.
God has blessed us with life and we want more. He has given us His creation to rule over but even that it is not enough. He has loved us enough to leave heaven, take on the form of a servant of man, surrendered Himself to the abuse of man, was ridiculed, beaten and murdered by His creation just to show us the full of extent of His love for us. He arose from the grave to provide a way for salvation for all who would believe and if that we not enough He did it while we were yet sinners.
We should never grow tired of God, never take Him for granted, never ignore Him or place other elements of His creation before Him. He ought to receive our first fruits not our leftovers. He is worthy of our praise, our admiration, receiving from us His creation all of the glory that is due Him alone.
Take a look around you. Everything you see is a give from God. The fact that you can see and breathe is a gift that we take for granted. We have so much to be thankful for and yet we are thankless to a God who loves us unconditionally. Make it a point today, throughout your day, to thank Him for what He has done, is doing and will do in your life. He is worthy of our attention; let’s never grow weary of praising His name.
Is God first in your life? Does He hold your praise and adoration or is He relegated to morning / evening devotionals and church services? We need to be mindful that God’s glory is present all around us an we need to shout and sing for He is GOOD and worthy of our undivided attention. Give it to Him!
