For the Peace of Jerusalem
Bible Verse: “Be joyful with Jerusalem and rejoice for her, all you who love her; Be exceedingly glad with her, all you who mourn over her. Is 66:10
My thought for today is our support for God’s chosen people ought to be strong out of love for our God. We are called to love the things that God loves. He loves you and I and therefore we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves. Though Israel has not been faithful to their God He remains faithful to them and loves them with an unconditional love.
We have been forgiven while we were yet sinners. God loved us enough to leave heaven, to take on the form of a man and suffer and die a brutal death at the hand of His own creation just to show all who will take notice the depth of His love for us. There can be no misunderstanding of the fact that God loves us.
Also it is difficult to comprehend that God would ignore a people who were called by His name. A people who God made several covenants with even though they turned away to serve other gods. Even though they rejected Jesus His only begotten Son. God has incredible patience when it comes to watching and waiting on the lost to return to Him.
We need to be in prayer for the peace of Jerusalem. We need to lift high the remnant of the people of God. Not all of Israel will be saved, just as not of all of mankind will find eternal peace and comfort a part from the love of Christ.
As I finish my study of the incredible book authored by Isaiah I am humbled to have spent almost a year daily seeing God’s faithfulness towards a faithless nation. The lessons that I witnessed through the study of this book and God’s amazing love for His lost people gives me hope as a sinner who has been forgiven and redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb.
Where is your heart at this present time toward the people of God? Have we forgotten them and abandoned them or are we holding them up in prayer that someday they might realize the Truth of God’s love found in Jesus Christ? We have been called to pray! Our prayers are important and the peace of Jerusalem and its people are important to God. Pray unceasingly for the lost that one day soon they would be found and enter into God’s rest.
