Thought for Today for 10/21/2009

"Is Jesus at Your Side?"
Is Jesus at Your Side?
Bible Verse: “Of whom were you worried and fearful, When you lied, and did not remember Me, Nor give Me a thought? Was I not silent even for a long time So you do not fear Me? “I will declare your righteousness and your deeds, But they will not profit you. “When you cry out, let your collection of idols deliver you. But the wind will carry all of them up, And a breath will take them away. But he who takes refuge in Me shall inherit the land, And shall possess My holy mountain.” Is 57:11-13
My thought for today is the fact that our words, thoughts and actions will one day be revealed before the throne of God’s grace, but will we have an advocate of not is the real question of life. In a court they can either accept or reject legal counsel, but if the reject legal counsel they have a fool for a lawyer depending only on themselves for their defense.
Like a court of law one day each one of us will stand before the throne of God and give an account of our lives. Things hidden will be revealed with all things being fully understood by God. The question then left to man is will we have counsel or not. At the throne it will be too late to secure counsel with the One who never loses a case, Jesus Christ.
The Father sent Jesus into a world and left the choice of advocacy up to individuals. All who believe in Jesus will have counsel at the judgment seat of God and enjoy eternal life. The challenge we have is the fact that this decision needs to be made today. Waiting until we die and then hoping that God will not render the judgment we deserve will not work.
This message nor Isaiah’s message is not an attempt to place fear in the heart of man, but rather equip man with the fact that their life choices do count for time and eternity. No amount of good works, no amount of church stuff, no amount of giving will suffice, we need a Counselor who will defend us.
The choice is now! We must decide whether or not we want Jesus at our side as we stand before a Holy God. If the answer is yes then we know what we must do, surrender our lives into His care and obediently follow Him.
Is Jesus your advocate? Does He know you personally? Are you certain of eternal life? If the answer is no to any one of these questions, then turn your heart to Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith and allow Him to be your defense. Surrender all into His care and ask Him to give you the assurance that only He can provide. He is waiting so make the call!
