"The Choice is Up to You"

The Choice is Up to You

Bible Verse:
For thus says the LORD, “To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths, And choose what pleases Me, And hold fast My covenant, To them I will give in My house and within My walls a memorial, And a name better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name which will not be cut off. Is 56:4-5

My thought for today is the choices that we make can either please and glorify God or ignore Him completely. Not a moment goes by when we are not faced with a choice. I chose to sit and meditate on today’s scripture. I could have just as easily left my home and headed for work, but I know surrendering my will to Jesus is the better thing to do.

As you prepare for your day or close out the current day, you to have a choice and that is do what pleases God. One could ask what that might be, but you all know it. Christ told us in Matthew’s gospel that, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

If we left for work or engage our friends, family or community with this as a choice that drove our lives the world we live in would be a much better place. Though the world may not repay our loving kindness, in fact our love may have an opposite effect, but that should not stop us from choosing love over anger, peace over anxiety or joy over frustration.

Life is about choices that we may make to bring honor and glory to God. Our own attitude is the only choice we have. I can not change you, but I can impact you with my love. This is what we are called to do. When we are faithful we see in the last part of today’s scripture passages that God will eternally bless us.

We may live 60,70, or even 90 years or more on this earth, but this is only a moment in eternity. We need to focus our here and now on the things that we can enjoy for all eternity. Your choices made today are your preparation for eternity so let’s chose wisely.

Is God glorified in your choices? Was yesterday a good or a bad choice day? Today is the beginning of the rest of our lives. What has happened in the past is the past and though it may impact us, we can still choices to turn past bad choices into good choices as we move forward. Life is short so let’s not waste it on things that do not horror and glorify God.
